Marriage Coaching

What should I expect if I sign up for Marriage Coaching?

Marriage Coaches serve to provide other married couples with the tools they need to keep their relationships healthy and strong by teaching couples to eliminate bad habits that destroy relationships and implement good habits that build healthy ones.  Marriage coaches are trained to administer and interpret the REFOCCUS Marriage Enrichment Inventory.  Marriage Coaches will meet with interested couples for approximately 6-7 sessions.  Marriage Coaches are not professional therapists but are trained to recognize unique situations such as addictions, infidelity, abuse and mental health issues.  If issues such as these arise, the coaching couple will refer the couple to Glad Services Counseling Center for professional counseling.  The couple can continue with the coaching process once released by the counselor.

So what is the REFOCCUS inventory anyway?

The REFOCCUS Marriage Enrichment Inventory is a growth and enrichment tool that helps to affirm marriage strengths and identify areas for growth. The Coaching Couple facilitates discussion to improve communication skills and intimacy. REFOCCUS is ideal for married couples who wish to spend time and energy on their relationship, but desire a little direction and skill building assistance in doing so.

How do we register for Marriage Coaching?

After completing the Registration form and submitting it to the church office, one of the program directors will use your form to identify a Marriage Coaching couple that seems right for your situation.  Once that Coaching Couple is contacted, and they confirm their availability, one of the program directors will be in contact with you to inform you of the match and your next step.

Is there a cost for Marriage Coaching?

Yes.  A $20 registration fee covers the REFOCCUS materials that are used in the Coaching Sessions.

What is our commitment in the coaching process?

The Marriage Coaching process offers great rewards. While the financial investment is small, the investment of time is vital. The growth of your marriage will occur as a result of applying the principles you learn between sessions. In order for you to reap the fullest benefit of Marriage Coaching, it is important for you to keep your appointments and to commit to completing all of the sessions.
