HOW DO I GET BAPTIZED?

  • If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are a candidate for water baptism.
  • As you consider this step of obedience, please take time to review all the information on this page.
  • You will need to attend the mandatory water baptism class.

WHAT IS WATER BAPTISM?

It has been said that Water Baptism is an “outward sign of an inward work.” But it is more than a sign or a symbolic act. Water baptism is an outward confession to your friends, family and church that you have believed on and trusted in the Lord Jesus for your salvation. It is a powerful declaration of your faith in Christ. In water baptism you are saying, “I am identifying with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.”

WATER BAPTISM…

  • [is a statement.] It is a public declaration that you have received Jesus Christ into your life. You are saying that you are His disciple and follower. [See Colossians 2:12]
  • [is for believers.] A believer is someone who has realized that their sin has separated them from God. They have decided to trust Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins. [See 1 John 1:9]
  • [identifies] the believer with Christ’s life. The apostle Paul explains how the immersion mode of baptism identifies the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Going underwater pictures Christ’s death, and coming out of the water illustrates His resurrection. [See Romans 6:1-11]

As you take this step of obedience, expect God to do something great in your life!

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?

Every person who believes in Christ should be baptized. The purpose is to publicly confess your personal commitment to Jesus Christ. [Acts 2:4]

WHAT ABOUT INFANT BAPTISM?

There is no indication in the Bible that infants were baptized. However, we encourage parents to dedicate their children to God in infancy. Click here for more information about baby dedication. Our regular child dedication ceremonies allow parents to make public statements of their intent to raise their child according to God’s biblical directives. Our church family agrees to support their efforts through prayer and participation.
