What is the Growing Together Building Campaign?

Now that the initial phase of our campus addition is complete, we are excited to see more and more people in our community coming to Glad Tidings and growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ.  It has been wonderful to see our average weekly attendance grow to over 2500! God is so good!  We are launching the “Growing Together” 2-year building campaign to assist with paying down the existing mortgage and to provide resources for future growth.  This will include future site work, parking lot expansion and completion of the building master plan.

What future plans do we have for our campus?

In our Forward by Faith Capital Stewardship Campaign, we raised the initial funds to complete the construction of the new Worship Center, Atrium, and KidZone.  The Growing Together campaign will also give us funds for other portions of the original building project that were scaled back initially due to budget constraints.  Included in the future plans is additional classroom space for our Kidz Ministry, back stage support in the Worship Center, additional administrative space, an additional parking lot and ongoing renovations to the facility.  As we continue to see more and more people coming to Glad Tidings, these enhancements to our campus will become more critical.

We don’t have any extra income in our budget.  How can we help?

Everyone can play a meaningful part in “Growing Together.” It is not about equal gifts but about equal sacrifice.  This campaign is about good stewardship and following the will of God.  In order to do that, each one of us will do our best to give sacrificially, beyond what we normally give to the church.  We can’t all give the same amount, but we can have the same degree of commitment.  We can consider:

  • Reassessing our lifestyle in a way to create additional income.
  • Rearranging our priorities to cut expenses so there is more to give.
  • Reallocating our resources and giving something other than cash.

Can my gift involve stocks or other assets in addition to cash?

Yes! A recent study concluded that only a small percentage of American’s assets are in cash. The vast majority of our assets are represented by such things as appreciated property, stocks and other non-cash items. Making non-cash contributions not only helps the church reach its financial and ministry goals, but often provides positive tax benefits to the donor as well. For more information, we recommend that you contact a financial advisor.

Are campaign gifts over and above my normal tithes, missions giving and other offerings?

Yes! They must be! Our normal operating expenses and missions commitments must continue to be met by your faithful tithe and offerings on a regular basis. These over and above gifts will allow us to accomplish the special goals of the Growing Together Campaign. In fact, if you are not presently supporting the general fund of the church with your tithes, we ask that you begin tithing before committing to the “Growing Together” campaign.

Can commitments be changed, if necessary?

Yes, if you find that there are life changing circumstances where you would find it necessary to either increase or decrease your commitment. However, we ask that you please give prayerful consideration to both making and fulfilling your commitment. The church makes financial decisions based on the commitments that are received.

Will my gift be confidential?

Yes! Only the personnel in the church’s finance office will know what you give, and they are charged with keeping the strictest of confidence. No information will be released stating the giving commitments of individuals.

When can I make my financial commitment toward this campaign?

Everyone at Glad Tidings will be asked to prayerfully consider how God would have them participate in the Growing Together Campaign. The congregation will be asked to respond, in obedience to God’s direction, during Commitment Weekend scheduled for Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14.

Will new members be given the opportunity to join the campaign?

Yes! New members and attendees will be encouraged to join the Growing Together Campaign as we fulfill the mission and vision God has given to all of us.

How long will the Growing Together Campaign last?

The first weekend to donate to the campaign will be Growing Together Weekend (Building Fund Weekend), March 20 & 21. The campaign will end on March 18, 2012, however payments to fulfill your commitment may be received until March 31, 2012.
