Did you know that God has a unique purpose and plan for you? God has given you spiritual gifts and abilities that He desires for you to use to make an impact on the lives of others. What an incredible thought that we can be a part of making a difference for God!

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  Ephesians 2:10

Bill Hybels, author of the Volunteer Revolution, says this about serving…
“Imagine what would happen if people -by the masses- took up serving towels, draped them over their arms and willingly (even joyfully) served other people in their everyday lives. Such attitudes and actions could change the world. In my view, people are never closer to living out the teachings of Christ than when they are adding value to someone else’s life.”

Glad Tidings has twelve core values that define our ministry.  One of those core values is ministry.  It is our desire to help you find your place in our church family where you can share your gifts and talents and fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

MINISTRY:  We affirm that every person has a unique contribution to make to the kingdom of God.  We strive to help each believer discover and fulfill his or her purpose, through spiritual service.   Romans 12:4-8

Whether you are a brand new or seasoned volunteer, there are many opportunites for you to serve and make an impact for God here at GT. Please contact Deb Bube, Director of Ministry Development at the church office by email debbube@gtaog.org or call at 610-678-0266, ext. 213.

If you are not sure where you would like to minister, the following steps can be taken to help you discover your gifts and talents God has given to you.

We offer an online Spiritual Gifts and Personality Profile. This profile allows you to answer questions and then the computer figures the results.  A report is then generated that summarizes your gifts and talents and lists areas of ministry that could be a match for you.  For information on how to access the online Profile contact Deb Bube at debbube@gtaog.org

If you do not wish to do the profile online, we have a Spiritual Gifts and Personality Profile booklet that can be obtained through Deb Bube at the church office.  After completion the results are computed manually.

After you have completed your profile and S.H.A.P.E. form,, a meeting is then set up with Deb Bube to review, answer questions, and help you find a place to minister. The S.H.A.P.E. form is a combination of your Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences and is included in this booklet.

Spiritual Gift
God gave you a special ability called a Spiritual Gift when you began following Him.  He gave you this gift to help build up your church family and reach out to the world with Christ’s love.

Heart
God gave you a unique passion for particular activities, subjects and circumstances.  He gave you a Heart for the things you feel deeply about to help define how and where He wants you to serve Him.

Abilities
You have abilities, given to you before you accepted Christ, that God can use in specific ways to assist you in your ministry.

Personality
God needs a Personality in ministry that’s exactly like yours!  He wants to use you whether you’re an extrovert or an introvert; whether you enjoy routine or variety.

Experiences
God has placed a multitude of Experiences in your life to help mold you for ministry.  He can use the experiences in your background to help heal the hurts of others in your church and your community.

Combing the results of your Spiritual Gifts and Personality Profile with your Heart, Abilities and Experiences will give you further insight to which ministry will fit you best.

What you can expect at the meeting:
*The session will open in prayer
*The meeting is confidential
*Review Spiritual Gifts and Personality Profile and S.H.A.P.E. form.
*Talk about other responsibilities you have in life to see if the time is right for you to serve.  We have found over the years people fall into one of four areas:
        1. Ready to serve.
        2. Need time to heal...spiritually or emotionally
        3. Already serving
        4. Want to start a new ministry
*If you are ready to start serving, 2-3 service opportunities will be offered that fit your S.H.A.P.E.
*Ask you to contact the selected ministries and start serving as soon as possible.
*Close in prayer

The average session lasts approximately one hour.
